Multi-Layer Wall
Series R-network: convection → up to four conduction layers (with optional contact resistance) → convection. Q = ΔT / ΣR, and every interface temperature falls out of the same heat rate.

Frequently asked
- How does the multi-layer wall solver work?
- Each layer is a conduction resistance R = L/(k·A); the two fluids add convection resistances R = 1/(h·A); an optional contact coefficient adds R = 1/(hc·A) between layers. All resistances add in series, Q = ΔT/R_total, and every interface temperature comes from the same Q stepping through the network.
- Why do I enter h on both sides?
- Real walls exchange heat with moving fluids on both faces. The convection coefficients set the surface temperatures; set h very large (e.g. 1e9) to model prescribed surface temperatures instead.
- What units?
- SI throughout: °C, W/m·K, W/m²·K, m, m², W. Temperature differences are identical in K and °C, so the solver is unit-consistent for ΔT.
